Protein

Just saw my dr for my 10 day follow up and he said that the 45 g of protein I'm getting is ok but anything below 60 g will slow weight loss. So guess I'll be figuring out a way to get at least 15 g more.

I am also 10-days out and have to increase my protein as well.  Sipping water, which is a big part of my day and now increase in protein! The protein drinks are horrible but the ISOpure liquid drinks have 60g of Protein, I have to delute it with more water to drink them but lots of protein in them.  I also add powdered egg whites to my protein shakes 3g per egg measure.  Good luck with your continued weight loss!

Cheers!

This is easy to add to a protein shake also, "To increase protein, add non-fat dry milk powder to foods or beverages whenever possible (1/4 cup = 11 grams of protein)."

Does that change the flavor of food? I get to switch to puréed on Monday so maybe I can add it in there.

The egg powder and milk din't change the flavor at all, there is also a unflavored protein powder that I was putting in Chicken broth, made it more like cream of chicken but still bland.  ~Good luck

ps I made a chicken soup with lots of veggies the night before I was able to have puree'd foods.  The family had soup and I puree'd about 2 cups and filled ice cube trays.  It tasted so good to have something other than water and protein drinks.  The puree'd foods have to go through a fork FYI!

You want to get at least 80 grams.  It is not just to increase weight loss but to prevent/slow muscle loss.  I could not hit those numbers early out, but that should be your goal.

That is definitely my goal once I can get more in. It's seems those most successful aim for 80-100g protein and 20 or less carbs.

I'm on full liquids so my days consist of water, pure protein shakes, and broth occassionally. I'm drinking about 1-1/2 of the pure protein shakes for about 45 g of protein. I'm going to try to up it to 2 full pure proteins for 60g.

You might consider adding unflavored protein powder to the broth for extra protein?  Or you could look into the Isopure protein powders to add to your water?  Unjury also makes chicken broth flavored protein powder, and that could help out.
