I know we can shower, but is it ok to take a bath?  I'm a little over a week out.

I was told not to completely submerge until the steri-strips fell off and I had good scabs going. I've heard a LOT of different opinions on this one over the months. Best to check with your surgeon.

I was told no baths. And we'd readdress the issue at my 6 week post op!! I miss my baths!!

Don't dream it. Be it.

I was told no baths until the scars healed. I love my bathtub and I really don't like showers, so that was really hard for me. I think I took my first bath at 3 weeks. Ahhhh...

No baths. Germs like nice warm moist places. Not sure about how long you would have to wait for swimming though. Not that you asked, just wanted to throw that out there LOL

This is one of those things you really need to ask your surgeon about.  It's a medical thing.  My rule from my surgeon was not until the scabs were off my incisions.  I don't think I could have gotten in and out of the tub, anyway, w/ the amount of pain I had in my biggest incision so good for you that you're even thinking of it!  LOL

My doc was strict: no baths, pools, hot tubs, wading in the river or ocean or lake...nada until 6 weeks. I was on strict exercise restrictions, too. Once I cleared my 6 week appt, I was free to do whatever I chose, with the request that if I chose horseback riding that I not fall off. :)

As the others have said, check with your clinic or surgeon. Every program seems to be different.

However, like many of the others, I was told no baths until 1 month post-op.

First and foremost check with your surgeon. However, its better if you stay away from baths, pools, hot tubs until both the steristrips fall off and your incision closes up. When i had my c-section, yes much bigger incision, however, like 3 weeks out i had the tiniest tear and led to a nasty infection. While so much else is healing, you want to avoid infection.
