Some doctors think gum introduces air into your stomach, some fear you're going to swallow it & cause problems. I chew gum, no gases here. I haven't swallowed gum since I was 4.

And for some people the sweetness can trigger carb cravings.

Seriously, though, the swallowing fear is just dopey.  I also haven't swallowed gum since I was a kid!

Search OH for "stalls."  They're completely common.  The hunger might be due to acid.  Are you on a PPI?

Your protein is also really low... how much water are you getting in?  What are you eating for those 400-600 calories?

When I was pre-op, I asked the bariatric nurse why no gum and told her I was wondering because I had a fear of not being able to chew anything.  She said that gum isn't really a no-no, but you should be careful at first if gas is an issue.  And of course, don't swallow it.  I am 7 weeks out and I occasionally chew gum with no problems whatsoever.

My surgeon claims that he had a patient who swallowed her gum and it created a blockage to her stomach.  He had to perform surgery to remove the offending gum.  True?  Don't know.  Just what he said.

First off, I'm only 4 weeks post op but my guess is, you need more protein.  Protein helps you feel fuller for longer.  Also, are you taking in liquid calories?  If so.. STOP.  Eat protein.  That might help.  Also, are you drinking with or right after your meals?  My surgeon recommends stopping drinking 15 mins before eating and not to drink for an hour after. This helps keep the food in your stomach and not flu**** out.

I'm not a doc...but those are just my suggestions.  Geeze, I hope that Dr calls you back..that is just unacceptable :(
