New. Job...and fat jokes!

I started a new job 2 weeks ago and Boone at this job new the old me. For almost 2 weeks I've heard the 3 doctors I work for make numerous fat jokes and snide remarks.....

yesterday I came out of the closet and told them about my journey and shared the physical and emotional pain that I inflicted upon myself and all the pain others caused with their comments! They of course were apologetic and shocked, a little embarrassed, and hopefully had a little change of attitude (at least in my presence)! We as human beings don't hold our value because of our shape and size! Wish I had truly realised that years ago!

They'd better watch their asses. If that stuff really was directed at you, that could constitute a "hostile work environment." I would let HR know, even if everything is resolved. Documentation is important. 

You get a gold star for standing up for yourself! That took great courage,  and for that,  I admire you. 

I am SO glad you spoke up for you, us, and all who may or may not ever be able to take the steps we took to not be fat.  GREAT job!!!  Maybe you changed their hearts just a little bit.

Congratulations that was very couragous !!!!  you stood up for the old you and all the other people who still need it !!!!!

Ugh. I hate fat jokes so much, especially having been the brunt of them before. Good for you for saying something! I hope they felt like idiots and maybe they'll think before they speak next time.

I'm sorry this had to happen, but good for you for standing up to them.

You go girl!  Way to educate the docs AND send out a message that prefucidical comments can and do hurt folks!

The sad part about your story is that it's the norm with so many doctors I know and I don't see it changing anytime soon.  Congratulations for having courage and strength to speak the truth.  Maybe you can make a difference in their attitude but even if you can't, it's so empowering to speak up.  Thank you.

Well I am guessing they were not talking about you since this is a new job and you are no longer plus sized. So that took an EXTRA amount of courage to stand up and tell them your story! WTG!!! That was very brave and very awesome of you! I do hope that something you said started a change somewhere in them.

Are you planning on staying at that job or has it made you too uncomfy to be there?
