Girdle Or No Girdle?
Compression garments are suggested for recovery after plastic surgery, but I wouldn't think that it would do anything for the VSG healing process. Definitely ask your surgeon before doing something like that... Something about the idea just doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

Frankly, I couldn't stand to have anything remotely tight around my stomach/waist area for weeks. It seemed to push everything up into my new stomach area and that just caused me more pain and acid build up.
I would take your friend's advice with a grain-of-salt. Unless she's been through this she doesn't understand what you're going through. After 2-3 months when you are fully healed, you may want to reconsider. Believe me when I say that shapewear will be your FRIEND as you continue to lose and deal with extra skin! :-)

Ditto exactly what she said. Except I'm 4 months out and still find anything tight pushes the food up and not down. My husband now expects me to get into the car and undo my jeans after a restaurant meal lol.
If I'm not eating though clothes that constrict are quite comfortable now.
I just had my surgery on April 8th and I can tell you I even hate having to were dress pants to work... a dress is way better I hate anything hitting me at my waist it very uncomfortable..... to be completely honest Im wearing My big undies so there not tight on my belly!!!! that 1 insision that they take the tummy out of gets uncomfortable quick!!!!!... so Me Id say NO!!! but call your Dr. Good Luck!!!
