day 6 pre-op
I missed the day three hump where things got easier :(
Getting harder by the day - more real hunger and more head hunger. It is crazy how many fast food restaurants exist and I'm going to have to give up my beloved TV if they keep airing tantalizing food commercials.
Weekends are worse for my (old) eating habits, would'a had something special to eat (and a drink) for today's Kentucky Derby, and it was a family birthday party with burgers, brats, hotdogs, cheese, bacon, buns, endless snacks (candy/crackers) and a plethora of potato chips, birthday cake - ugh.
Not sure is there is a 'right' or 'healthy' strategy to get through this but mine is wanting to have a 'badge of honor' that I make it through my 21 day's without cheating. Like I won't remember what I ate at my brothers birthday last year, I'm sure this discomfort will fade from my memory.
Gotta start somewhere...
I'm hoping the 1/2 way point leaves me feeling like the home stretch! Do you have a 24 fast before surgery? My surgery is a Tuesday (early morning) and I'm on only no calorie liquids after bedtime Sunday.
The pre op diet was the hardest part of the whole process for me. The second day of mine fell on valentines day, and of courese there was tons of food at work! I agree that weekends aree the hardest. Staying busy helps a lot. I don't know what your diet entails but mine was clear liquids and 4 shakes a day... it sucked! I really liked the ensure shakes.. thats what got me through. You caan do it! I promise it will be worth it. I was so happy because my doctor said my liver looked great so I guess the diet paiud off.. plus I got a kick start on weight loss! Good luck... hang in there!
I was given a low-carb pre-op diet 7 days before surgery (surgery is scheduled for May 26), but decided to start earlier on May 7th, the day after my birthday. I will have to get off coffee as well. I know this is going to be challenging. I have been reading motivational quotes, meditating, practicing yoga, going for long walks and watching youtube videos of people's vsg experiences.
I have some inspiring quotes:
"You are stronger than you think!"
"Every negative belief weakens the partnership between mind and body" Deepak Chopra
"Obstacle are what you see when you take your eyes off the goal." Vince Lombardi
Stay strong and motivated! It is so worth it!
All the best to you on your journey :)
Thanks!
Between sitting at work and sitting on my couch, I've got to be near the worst exercise/walker there is out there. Been trying to be more active, run errands, not circle the parking lot for a closer spot, and do some spring cleaning - hopefully walks are soon to come - and long walks are not far behind. (a bad back complicates my walking - hoping the weight loss will make moving easier)
