Gall bladder surgery after VSG

Hello:

Just had my gallbladder removed a few days ago and wondered if anyone else out there has had this post VSG?  Any particular weirdities happening?  I'm thinking we may have some different responses in our bodies due to the VSG but maybe not?  Anyone experience any thing to note after having gallbladder removed?  Ie, washroom issues, digestion issues, metabolism, weight gain/loss, etc etc??  Ha anyone ever heard of, or taking "bile supplements" and would this be something to consider?  I have no idea how it will go once I'm actually healed, I'm still only 3 days post op, so, generally feeling poorly anyway...(crampy, bloaty, etc).  I stopped taking any pain medication 1 day post op due to my own chronic issues of constipation....

Looking for any information at all,

Thanks, Kerry

I had mine removed the same time I had the VSG.  I hope you continue to heal without any problems.

I had mine taken out three weeks after my VSG surgery.  It's hard to say if it changed anything because the sleeve was so new.  I don't take anything extra except my PPI which I was taking before surgery for acid reflux.

Turns out I know quite a few people who have had their gallbladder out...they told me it will be just as normal minus the pain.

Good luck and God bless!

I had my gallbladder out several years before I had VSG.  There is no reason for you to have "bile supplements".  Believe me, your liver and stomach will try to create as much bile as it did before you had surgery until your body starts to recognize you don't need as much anymore.

I don't believe my experience post-op was different than anyone else who still has their gallbladder.

Like Tracey, I also had mine out pre-op, not post-op. I was achy - more achy than with the VSG. I did have bathroom issues immediately after surgery where I would have to go immediately. But that all cleared up. I also did gain weight BUT that may have been from me overeating since eating fats did not trigger a gaul bladder event..hence then VSG.
