Needing Motivation

OK so my original goal for surgery was to get down to 130lbs. I am now right around 129. I still think I could stand to lose a few more lbs so I changed my goal to 120. I'm 5"2" so 120 is still a little over ideal body weight but not enough to be an issue.

Here's the problem I started a new job and lost my workout partner. Plus I work 9 hour days with some of the loudest most obnoxious men on the planet! By the time I get home my head is killing me and my irritation level is sky high. Anyone else see any triggers for eating badly. LOL I refuse to keep bad stuff in the house anymore because I simply can not resist when I am in a high stress state.

So here's the thing. I need someone to kick my butt and give me some advice on jumpstarting this final change in lifestyle. Here are the things I am currently doing that definitely need changed.

1. Drinking beer and wine on a daily basis

2. Eating small snacks all night long

3. Not excersizing

4. Not getting enough protein

5. Not using myfitnesspal

So kick and motivate away I really need it!

When are you drinking on a daily basis?  What specific time is this happening?

You are eating at night, are you also drinking alcohol at night?

If you can pinpoint the exact time of the day that this problem is occurring, you can come up with a strategy that makes these behaviors incongruent with what you ARE doing.  You can come up with a strategy of what specifically you will do during those hours that has no food or alcohol involved.  The focus should be on what you WILL do rather than what you will not do. This would be a good start.

In the end, you must find the stimulus to kick your own butt.  You must remind yourself of what you want and why you want it. I like to journal about it and put motivational people (photos) and sayings in places I am sure to look all the time.

I usually drink at night around 730-8 pm. Depending on the stress level at work sometimes earlier. Thankfully I don't drink much but some days it is just something to  help me relax and I feel like I need an alternative.

You need an alternative.  :)

You need to find something very specific that you are going to do starting tonight that is completely incongruent with eating and drinking.  Maybe you will take a bath, maybe you will read a great book, maybe you will go to the part of the house that has no food or alcohol and fold laundry.  You decide what it is, but you need to break the habit and that takes about six weeks.

I wish you well, but please definitely reevaluate the alcohol every day.  From what you have described it could easily turn into a transfer addiction to deal with the stress.  You need to find a "healthy" way to detox each day so that you do not trade one problem for another.

Start tracking your food each day so that you know if you have hit your protein goals.  If you haven't make that snack at night a high protein snack, not empty carbs.

Thanks I have two alcoholics in my close family so I watch my consumption pretty closely but you are right that has been part of my stress relief here lately.

At the risk of outing myself as an all out hippie - can I suggest something for when you're at work w/ those obnoxious sorts?  Read about Young Living Essential Oils..or DoTerra...or any, really (YL is what I use).  They all have various versions of similar blends but YL has an essential oil called Peace and Calming.  If put a little on your wrists and a little on your neck, I'm telling you, you will be AMAZED at how it will reduce or even eliminate their ability to irritate you.  I guarantee it so much that if you don't think it works I'll buy yours from you!  haha

Also, can you work in a meditation before work or on your lunch break?  Also amazingly effective at relieving stress and not allowing irritation to build.  You can't control their behavior but you can control your response to it!

If you want to ask questions about the oils, feel free to PM me.  I'm a real evangelist!  haha
