Where have I been....update and new goals

Where have I been? Well, just want to post an update, and to state/reinforce my new(ish) goals.

Back in Nov/Dec I started having bad knee issues, which curtailed my exercise quite a bit. After trying cortisone shots and ‘rooster’ shots, it was clear nothing was helping (including having lost over 80 lbs, so much for that theory, that losing weight will help your knees). By Feb/March I gained a few pounds (4-5), and was getting a little off my food routine….by end of May I was scheduled for total knee replacement. Ugh.

Tomorrow will be one month since the surgery…I went into hospital weighing 165…spent 2 nights, was weighed into rehab at 179!!! All fluids and swelling. My toes looked like kielbasa, my thigh was a huge holiday ham. By the time I left rehab 2 ½ weeks later, I was 165 again – partly the swelling was way down, and partly their food was horrendous….eeeccckk!! hubby brought me my protein drinks and healthy snacks daily. Home from rehab one week now, I am now 159 ½ .

Decided it was time to reset my goal weight from 158 to 150. My thigh is now just a regular Sunday ham, still some swelling, but not bad.   While I’m going to physical therapy 3x a week, and will for a while longer, I am looking forward to ‘real’ exercise….I will never complain about that again, after the hell of PT. it will be a pleasure to ride a bike, do water exercise, garden, walk, etc. without the issues going on right now…can’t wait to have normal activity again :)

While I haven’t been posting, I have been reading, and am happy for all those with their continued successes, all those starting their journey, or restarting/getting back on the wagon.

Hugs to all you wonderful people.

Sophie

Thanks Ms Shell!!  I'm very happy for you the weight loss helped your knee....TKR is the worse thing ever....it made my WLS seem like a piece of cake (hmm, notice how I still refer to food for many descriptions? LOL)

I've heard.  My doctor says I MAY need one in the future but I'll worry about that IF it happens.  Continued healing =)
