Hello Friends, I am 19 days post op and since day 1 I have had problems getting water down. I can get down other liquids such as crystal light and milk but a nice glass of cold water cause me to have pain. Also I will have 1/2 c oatmeal with protein for breakfast and a yogurt for lunch. But trying to get anything else in including liquids for the rest of the day has been a challenge.I recently found that drinking decaf hot tea has helped to settle my stomach so I am trying that. Any suggestions.

Haven't had that issue yet, but I'm only 8 days post op now.  My doctor's instructions said that to keep water from being boring Chrystal Light, Mio, even sugar free koolaid are all fine.  It doesn't have to be plain old water as long as you are staying hydrated.   One other thing to try that counts according to my nut and dr. is ISO Pure Zero Carb.  Lots of flavors and 40 grams of protein per 20oz bottle.

When it comes to getting liquids in for hydration, anything counts - including every other protein shake.

Lots of people have issues with cold water early out.  Which sucks if you love to drink it, but you can use any other option.  Vary temperatures, vary flavors, figure out what works for you and do that.  The important thing is the liquid, not the form it comes in.

Warm beverages were my best friend.  Ice cold water gave me stomach spasms = nausea  because of the temperature shock.

Try warm milk (skim cow milk...look for high-protein milk too - some markets have Fairlife milk) with a little vanilla & splenda/stevia added for flavor.  You can also do protein powder in warm milk, but not Hot. (milk is part of mu NUT plan...I know it isn't on everyone's plan but my NUT wants protein from real food and skim milk and not to be relying on protein drinks all the time...so that is why I drink milk).

skim milk has 1g of protein per ounce and the Fairlife milk has even more.

I would suggest switching from cold drinks to warm drinks.  Sometimes the sleeve will react with spasms to cold water in the beginning, which of course is where the pain comes from.
