Extra Slow Losers

Ok, so I had revision from band/sleeve 11 months ago. I lost all the weight 31 lbs in the first 2 months. NOW NADA. I know they say when you are not a virgin WLS you will lose slower, but this is crazy. I still have at least 35 lbs to go.

Anyone else?

Exactly what are you eating each day?  Are you weighing and tracking everything that you put in your mouth?

How much fluid do you get every day?  How much protein?

I was a revision and i lost 70lbs in two years, read it and weep and after the first few months of 800 calories i went down to 600 then 500.  Yes read it and weep and before we break the internet it's not everyone but it was me and it seems like you too.

I used my band well, kept it tight and lost most all my weight, until it failed.  I also ruined my metabolism.  My suggestion is you try 600-800 and incorporate strength training, it helped with me.  As i gained muscle i lost more.  I weep for you really but if you don't start to work on that 35 now, it will be yours forever.  Our bodies get used to what we give it.  Maintenance is hard and dieting was harder but dieting i knew how to do, so although it was long and excruciating i kept saying "i did not have 2 surgeries to lose 30lbs.'

It's work and it sucks but you can get there, especially if you just fell into maintenance.  Go back to protein first and be rigid with yourself.  You clearly know how to  maintain as you are not gaining, so backtrack on calories and see how it goes.

Good Luck

I lost 28 in first 2 months, nothing else. Getting a little stressed about it, any tips you find that work let me know. I just got home from 2 week vacation. Up 2 pounds. What I am going to do is start a food log, weight everything, and get moving more. I am thinking about calling the dietitian for a visit also. Best of luck.

I always have a protein shake in the morning, or on weekends I have 1 egg and 2 pieces of bacon, sometimes turkey. Lunch is usually a salad, with some protein and lite dressing. Dinner is fish/chicken/steak. cottage cheese, or salad again.

Now sometimes I do drink wine, or vodka on the weekends, but mix with Crystal Lite. Eat sugar free pudding, or sugar free candy. Drink tons of water, mater of fact, that is all I drink. Never got back to drinking soda's. One cup of coffee with SF creamer. I workout 3-4 times a week and do some water exercising in my pool in the evenings.

Taking all kinds of vitamins.

If I were you I'd cut the alcohol out of your diet completely for a while. Most of my weight I gained because of alcohol and I would try to moderate in order to lose weight and it didn't work or I would constantly fluctuate a few pounds.

Is the dressing for your salad creamy like lite ranch or is it more like italian? I would steer clear of all creamy salad dressings even if they are lite or "fat free."  Track and weigh everything you eat. I would aim for 80g of protein and less than 40g carbs.

I'm newly post op so I still have a long way to go but I've learned a lot about nutrition in the last few months and this is what I understand to work.

I didn't have a revision, but I am the slowest loser on this forum. Almost 3 years and I'm still fighting the last 10 lbs. I truly feel your pain. Slow losing is such a mind **** But, I'll tell you what I wish I would have known at 2 months post op. Take it or leave it - you won't my feelings either way.

Utilize your first 6 months. Why in the hell are you drinking on weekends? You need that **** gone. Save that for after you reach goal. Hunker down and get the extra **** out of your diet. You are going to have to prize fight for every pound. Slow losing is not for the weak. You need to woman up and decide what you REALLY want. Then, decide what you are willing to give up/do/let go of to get it. Drinking water like crazy? Like 12-14  (96-112) glasses a day?

This **** is a marathon - as you know. You've run 1/4 of the race. This is no time to veer off course.

I am 7 days out and I still weigh more than I did before I started my pre op 2 week diet!!  I have had this sleeve for 7 days and life is more frustrating now that ever.... I am drinking, drinking, and walking, walking... I have always retained water... Will this continue???

Chances are that you've gained weight from the fluids you got pumped full of during surgery.  It's totally normal, and you will lose weight if you follow your surgeon's plan.
