Flu or nutrition?

I've had a whole body ache (ache muscles and sensitive skin) and slight fever with chills for about 48 hrs. That's my normal flu reaction, but I'm missing the runny nose, no sore throat, no diarrhea.

Normally, I'd shrug it off and power through it (or rest on my day off like I did yesterday), but wondering if anyone had a nutrient issue from our restricted diet. I added a banana the last 2 days and other potassium foods but still have the sore muscles and sensitive skin. No change in my vitamins, exercise, or eating (other than adding potassium and maybe a little loss of appetite.

Also light headed which is unusual but more common post op - water intake and BP is always good.

I had a similar experience a couple weeks ago - stiff neck, achy all over, tired, but no runny nose, sore throat or digestive problems.  I was also light headed.  I also wondered if it was nutrition or the flu.  It did pass in about a week, so I'm assuming it was some bug rather than nutrition.

I hope you feel better.

I don't think it's nutrition if you're following any kind of normal barriactric dietary routine.  To get those symptoms you've have to virtually stop eating and add in some other kind of body stress (like severe lack of sleep).

Most likely it's a bug of some sort, and your improved nutrition and health is minimizing the symptons you would have felt during similar past episodes.  That did happen to me during the weight loss phase.

Treat it like you would any normal episode.  Hang in there while you can, consult a physician if it gets weird or worse.

I ended up going to the doctor (pcp). I'm not a blood expert, but they *****ed my finger and ran a test that based on normal white cell count and elevated level of something else that I have a virus and there is a summer flu going around with similar symptoms.

I have sort of been wondering the same thing here?  I am five weeks post op.   For the last week in the evening I have felt very flu like symptoms.  Fluid intake has been around 80 to 90 oz's.   Protein might be a bit low.  Should be low 90's  Think mine is around 80 grams.   I know this week.  I have been lacking a lot of sleep.   I have two small children 2 1/2 years old and just turned 4.   They have not been sleeping well so my sleep has been somewhere between 4 to 6 hours a night.  I usually start out pretty good in the morning and just last afternoon early evening I am blah!  Just want to crawl in bed and have everyone leave me alone.   Called the Doc, and they suggested I come in.  It is so hard for me. 3 1/2 to 4 hour drive one way.
