Question for the ladies

So I am just over 4 weeks out from surgery and feeling really good. However there is one peculiarity...I am 9 days late for my period!

This never happens to me. In fact I'm in peri-menopause and my periods come every 26 days and last 8-9 days!  As you can imagine I am anxiously awaiting the end of my monthly friend.

Anyone else have delayed or whacked out periods after getting their sleeve?

Thanks!

I have read that this is common. I have not dealt with that in particular, but since VSG I have had MUCH worse cramping and bleeding. Have you tried a pregnancy test, just to be sure?

I haven't done a pregnancy test only because I'm a bit over the hill and had endometrial ablation done so there is very little chance of pregnancy for me as I could not conceive.   I'll be on the lookout for those changes.  Yuck, I wish I could click my heels and be in menopause.  LOL!

When I first had the CRAPBAND... IE LAPBAND, my cycle didn't come for a few weeks.

With the revision to the SLEEVE, that joker came the next day!!! No worries.... It will come unless you been doing some uhm THINGS before surgery.

my cycle was off for the first several months.  I think it is normal -- you are shedding fat (and hormones) so this can mess with it.

Still get a pregnancy test if that is a possibility.

Totally.  I skipped a month entirely right after surgery, but I'm back on track now.

Totally common.  If you're sexually active, I'd take a pregnancy test because I'm paranoid that way.  And you might consider using a back up contraceptive since surgery can really screw with your hormones.

I got my period right after I was sleeved. At first I thought it was damage from the catheter, but now I'm pretty convinced it was my period. As Gwen said, this stuff can totally screw with your hormones, so don't worry yourself to death. You might want to consult with your surgeon, though, to give you peace of mind.

I had surgery April 9th.  I missed a period in May, had a hellish period in very early June, and then nothing again until then the end of August.  I do think the rapid weight loss releasing all of those trapped hormones can make things whacky but I'm not a doctor

ETA - I did freak out a little bit in July and August and took two pregnancy tests even though I really didn't think I was pregnant!
