I am 4 days post op. since surgery I have been working on one oz every 15 mins but today I just drank from a cup and didnt really guage and I also drank my g2/water along with sips off my protein shakes and I found that the protein shake sips were coming back up into my esophagus and I was having a hard time getting them down. So I put my shake down for a good half hour and tried to resume drinking and it was still difficult to get them down. Then I had to take my night med (omperzole) and I could not get the pill to go down...I just felt it stick for a while in mid sternum.

any one know how long it takes for liquids to pass through the sleeve so I dont overload?

I don't know specifically about liquids, but I did ask my doctor about food. He said 3 minutes should be enough time for a small well chewed bite to pass through. So I would think less than 3 minutes for liquid. He also said that your stomach is still healing. So that 3 minute rule may not apply to all so early out. He said healing can take between 3 weeks and 3 months. I am definitely not in that 3 week group of people.

When I was early out like you I had to walk as I drank my fluids. The walking helped move them down faster. Sometimes sitting in a hard-backed chair (no sofa) helped. It will get better as time moves along and your stomach heals.

You can't really hurt your stomach with fluids.  So many people have issues - be grateful that you don't!

Assuming your pyloric valve is working correctly, liquids pass right through an empty stomach.

Are you sure your suppose to be swallowing the pills whole? I was under the impression that all pills needed to be crushed before swallowing
