Sleep Apnea Question....

I had a sleep study last night. The tech guy said if he saw a problem with my sleep during the night he would come in and hook me up to the cpac (spelling?) machine. If not, he would let me go on sleeping. The next morning I asked him if he thought I had sleep apnea, (looking for his unofficial , opinionated answer). He said, "I didn't hook you up to the cpac machine, did I?"

Ok, just wondering if I have sleep apnea or not. The 3 week waiting time is VERY hard. What do you all think?

 Thanks!!

When I had my sleep study done, they didn't hook me up to CPAP that night, but when the results came back, I had to have a second sleep study done with the CPAP.  Yep...I've got sleep apnea!

When you had your second sleep study done, did they hook all those wires to you again or did you just use the clap machine?

Deep now inside, I feel I do have sleep apnea, three weeks is a long time to wait. :(

It seems I waited about that long in between studies, and yes, I was all hooked up again!  Love getting that goop out of your hair!!

You don't have sleep apnea.  Otherwise they would have hooked up up the CPAP machine.

Techs are not allowed to answer that question, only doctors can.  If he goes too far, he's in trouble.  They will try to lead you some though to help you.

There are two possibilities, based on no CPAP test, your apnea was so bad that testing the CPAP was unnecessary.  In which case the doctor will prescribe one in your follow-up.  Or, you don't have anything to worry about, either you are clear or it's minimal enough to not need CPAP at this time.

It sounds like the tech is leading you that it's clear.  However, my tech back in the day said the same thing about waking me up and didn't but I had Apnea.  They usually do the wake up with borderline cases.  My tech also led me down the path to expect an Apnea diagnosis.

PS I never went back on the machine after surgery.  Between pre-surgical diet and the loss during the two week recovery, my weight dropped enough to reverse the Apnea.   A pretty common story.

I was hooked up before I even went to sleep.  And, altho they told me nothing the next morning, I already had an appt. almost 2 weeks later for the results.  I have severe sleep apnea and at that time, I was put on CPAP.

I had 2 sleep studies (1 year apart) and both times they hooked me up to the CPAP after only an hour or 2 of sleep. I would guess if they didn't mask you that is good news!
