Should I use gummy vitamins or chewable vitamins or stick with the regular type of vitamins after my VSG surgery? I am in pre op and was wondering about this. Trying to get prepared. Thanks!!

I am 2 weeks post op. It was suggested by my surgeon to use liquid vitamins.  I plans to switch to chewable after I run through these.  The gummy style have too many carbs for me.  The main thing is to get what your body needs.

I buy chewable vitamins online, the gummy ones tend to have too much sugar & some of them won't be able to satisfy the needs of a bariatric patient post op. Try to get the info from the nutritionist, they should have a list of what you need post op, a multi vitamin might not be enough. Me I take the chewable multi vitamin, Vit D, B12, calcium citrate, & iron. My lab work has been pretty good so far. They'll do lab work on you probably at 3 months to tell you what you need or won't need.

I used liquid vitamins for the first four weeks (Wellesse) then switched to Trader Joe's High Potency chewables. For the first year I did a double dose of the chewables, one with breakfast, one with dinner. Now that I can eat more I've cut back to one dose per day. My lab work has always been great!

My dr. Advised chewable multi, sub-lingual B, and the smallest D I could find.  Told to stay away from gummies but don't remember the reasoning.  All drs advise differently though so YMMV.

I was told to get liquid or chewables no gummies (it was written in every paper, they really didn't want gummies) I also had to get the sublingual B12.

gummies are a waste they don't have enough nutrients

I take kirkland(cost****ids chewable vits , my nut checked the specs and says there as good as the high priced vits

I take kirkland or walmart calcium citrate, a liquid b12 sublingle(weekly)  and  65mg iron

I tried the liquid calcium and hated it

I was allowed large pills from the day I came home from the hospital (1000mg metiformin) and had no problem with any pills vits or calcium

The ASMBS recommends that we use chewables for 3-6 months post-op, so I'd do that.  Lots of tummies are for children and are super incomplete, like Flinstones.  So make sure you get a vitamin that has 100% of most vitamins and minerals.
