Frustrated with my doctors office and emotional

Hey everyone.

So, my doctors office hands out a manual when you begin the process of bariatric surgery. Each manual is catered to each surgery. I got my manual a while back and inside it says that you are on the full liquid diet for 12 days. I have been on it for 11 as of today. I've been extremely sick and not eating. I decided it was time to call the on call nurse to see if I could start pureed foods a day or so early since I wasn't even eating. So a little while ago I called and told her that I can barely eat because I'm extremely sick of all the full liquids and I haven't eaten in 3 days. She asked when my surgery was and she was like "you were supposed to start the pureed phase 4 days ago." I said "What? My manual says I'm on it for 12 days!" she said "Oh, you got an old manual. We changed it to 6-7 days a long time ago" I am so furious. I haven't been eating at all because the only foods I could eat were making me nauseous. Granted, she wasn't the one who handed me the manual, so I'm not mad at her. I'm very upset that they don't check the manuals before they hand them out. I have been sitting here miserable and starving for 4 days.

I just needed to rant about that.

Anyway, I finally made some mashed potatoes about an hour ago. I literally cried while eating a spoonful because I haven't had "real food" in 3 weeks. Was anyone else emotional when starting a new food/phase that you weren't allowed to have before? I feel silly for being so happy that I cried. Who cries over mashed potatoes? LOL. I'm just happy I have A LOT more options to eat now.

Sorry that you had those bad days, but glad you're now able to try some new foods.  Good luck, I hope you don't have any more problems!

How could you NOT cry? Surgery is traumatic, and this particular surgery makes a lot of demands on our emotional stamina, I think, as we adjust to our new stomach size and lose overeating as a way of dealing with trauma and stress.

Hopefully you'll get more of the "up" times than the "down" times as time goes on. HUGS!

Everyone is very emotional after surgery even if everything is going awesome, they can eat and you do get all the correct information. So perfectly normal!

glad you can have a laugh about it now!
I cry a lot in general, I wouldn't need to add any salt to my meals cos I can just get it from my tears
