Need advise 2 1/2 years out.
I have been maintaining my weight loss for 1 year. I actually lost some additional weight over the summer. Not really trying, but was at 131 for a few months. Toward mid Sept I gained a few pounds and then lost 2 so I was at 132 which was fine. I got on the scale last week and I was 137. It is sticking. I don't eat off plan, but was eating a bit more. So I have been cutting back and have lost a pound. My question to those further out than me have you regained a bit and when you went back to what used to work still not lose? I long for the days when it was so easy. So is this normal? My calories are now between 800-1,000, protein is about 70 and carbs around 40. I didn't want to go hardcore and do protein shakes, but I am willing to do whatever it takes. The few pounds scare me I know 5 can be 10 and so on. Any suggestions would be so appreciated.
Yes, it's harder the further out you get. You are doing all the right things, but what used to take a few weeks, now will take a few months. Just keep doing what you are doing and the weight will come off. This will happen much slower than you would like, but it will happen. Good job on catching the regain early and working the program. You are doing it, just KEEP doing it. Good luck to you and to all of us.
The (maybe) only downside to being so much smaller is that we burn less calories than we did when we were heavier so it takes longer to lose a few lbs, but just have faith, keep working the program, and you will eventually get to where you are going. I dont know if you are exercising, but that can help - doing high intensity intervals has the best outcome in terms of burning calories. If you havent heard of it, look it up.
Congrats on your success!! Your determination will get you through!

You can lose as easily as you did in the beginning, if you are willing to do EXACTLY what you did previously. You stated that you are eating more. That will account for the weight gain. I have had periods where I see my old eating habits creeping back in( evening snacking on sweets while watching TV!!!), and my scale will reflect it. All I can tell you is that the longer I allow those behaviors to hang around, the harder it is to get back on track. I have had weight gains of a few pounds to 8, and that scared me straight. I found it so difficult to control this last time around, justifying my weight (it's only a FEW pounds), not being able to control myself, and then saying " the heck with it" and going on a binge. It happens! It's hard to get back to it, buy you can do it!
I find that cutting out the sweets and focusing on dry proteins(chicken) did it for me. That, and keeping busy busy busy!
