Three months progress pictures!

Well, I can't say anymore that it feels like the time has flown by. I'm shocked that it's only been three months! But I counted it out on my fingers and here I am: 3 months post op.

The good:

I'm losing about 5lbs a week. I've lost 66lbs since surgery. I have less than 100lbs to go to my goal. When I started, my goal felt so far away. I couldn't even think about it sometimes, because I had more than 250lbs to lose. Less than 100lbs just feels so much more manageable.

I can wear heels all day and skinny jeans. Yes, there are plus size skinny jeans, and yes, I rock them.

My clothes budget was stressing me out, but my mom cleaned out her closet and I've been selling my old clothes (and other crap) on eBay, which helps a lot. So that's good!

I have done a bunch of travelling and feel really great. I fit much better into an airplane seat and I didn't need a seatbelt extender! I feel like I really don't stick out nearly as much as I did in the 300s and 400s. I'm going to Death Valley in March and my husband and I are planning are planning a big two week trip to Europe next summer, and I can't wait. I have so much to look forward to.

I'm digging my low carb diet. I really enjoy what I get to eat every day.

I have more capacity in my sleeve and yes I think that's a good thing because it allows me a bite of vegetables and I really hope that with extra capacity, my acid reflux might abate. Which brings me to...

The bad:

Acid reflux. So, mine has manifested in the form of a sore throat, post nasal drip, and congestion. Yeah, I know, sounds like a cold, but for a couple reasons I know it's not. It's lasted for weeks, nothing makes a dent in it, and now I'm cycling through PPIs. My doctor's office doesn't really believe me that my symptoms are not a cold, and say they've never heard of these reflux symptoms before. But I know they can be symptoms.

And my tailbone. God, it hurts. I'm finding sitting is almost unbearable, and I'm constantly contorting myself into different positions. Driving is especially bad. I hope it gets better.

I'm anxious about Thanksgiving.

Anyway, obviously weight loss feels great, but I worry that I've traded one set of symptoms for another. I feel ambivalent sometimes, and I am a real worrier. I guess I just want to focus on getting to my goal weight, and try not to borrow trouble. Hopefully the other things will resolve themselves.

Anyway, here are my pictures:

Thank you, thank you!!

So he gets it in his throat too? From what I've read, acid can get into the larynx (causing the sore throat) and sinuses, and the sinuses produce extra mucous to try to wa**** out, hence the post nasal drip. It's so gross! Given that 50% of VSG patients will experience reflux at some point, I'm really surprised my surgeon's office hasn't heard of this symptom.

Thank you, I hope it's helpful! I know when I was in the pre-op phase I was really fascinated by what people were going through. Probably the people further out will have better perspective than I do but this is where I am right now, at three months. I hope one day I am one of the "No regrets whatsoever" camp, although I wouldn't say I have regrets about the decision so much as occasional bouts of ambivalence and anxiety.
