Hi All!

I have been lurking for a while but finally decided to post. I have struggled with my weight my entire life and on my 40th birthday I decided to do something about it. I have been lucky to not have any major health problems even though I did discover high blood sugar and sleep apnea during my pre op process. I started my journey on 9/9/14 and I was sleeved on Monday with insurance approval. Since I was so heavy I was able to waive the usual 6 month requirement and was immediately put on a liquid diet. It was very successful and I lost 65 lbs prior to surgery. Surgery went well and the DaVinci Robot was used. I was up within 15 minutes of being brought to my room, first to the bathroom then on a walk down the hall. I walked like a demon around that hospital. I only slept about 5 hours each night in the hospital and walked walked walked and sat up the rest of the time. I had minimal pain and was sent home yesterday afternoon. I made protein and carb goal 2 days in a row in the hospital. So far so good today, sipping and walking, and incentive spirometer. I work from home so hope to return to that tomorrow.

Congratulations! It sounds like you are off to a great start!!! Keep it up! Glad things are going so smoothly. What is the DaVinci Robot? I go in 12 days.

The Robot is used to assist the surgeon with larger patients. He sits at a console and drives the instruments that are inserted laparoscopically.

Day 2 Home from the hospital and all is OK. Pain is minimal and I got 56oz of fluid in yesterday and met both carb and protein goals. I am down to using Tylenol for pain. I did run out of juice about 9pm last night and went to bed. I was up at 6:45am though and walked to the end of the street and back. I am returning to work today (work from home), at least for a few hours. Fingers crossed all continues to go OK.

You are doing really well and should be very proud of yourself!!  Being able to hit your protein and liquid goals right away is amazing!!  And it sounds like you are really willing to work it, so I wish you the best of luck in your journey!! :)

Trust the Process!! :)
