Nuts are my Nemisis. :(
I have been buying a bag of roasted almonds, a bag of unsalted cashews and a bag of dry roasted peanuts. I mix them together in a bowl and put 1/4 cup into each snack bag. Problem is, I can't just eat one bag. I find myself going back for more. I know nuts aren't bad for you, and there are worse things I could be binging on, but I shouldn't be binging at all! I simply can't have them in the house anymore. What is wrong with me!?

I don't think anything is wrong with you aside fem the fact that you're human and you haven't "fixed" your habit of binging yet.

Everyone has their own kryptonite, and it sounds like nuts are yours.
Generally speaking, nuts are healthy, but too many per day would not. They are also the sort of food that you could keep grazing on without stopping. I'd be willing to bet I could eat 10,000 calories of nuts in a day.
The type of nut matters too. I could keep walnuts in the house, and only eat a healthy serving every day without craving more. But if I had a huge bag of cashews, they'd all be gone. Then I'd be out robbing banks, trying to get more cashew money.
For things like this, I find I just need to stop. I wish I could offer you a better answer, but it's what works for me.

MAchick, I think I will have to stop buying them in bulk and maybe buy a single snack bag if I absolutely crave them.

I have some grazing concerns as I get farther out. I actually thought you meant NUT as in nutritionist, a term I've learned means the dieticians that many of us work with. Speaking of NUTS, my NUT at my surgeon's office is incredibly helpful with these things. She suggest replacing the grazing habit with something else. Her suggestion: Every time you want to graze on the nuts, take a colorful sticky note and write what you want down and hang it somewhere - pantry door, refrigerator, your desk at work. Every day you'll see the number of post-its go down... or you'll have a colorful array of squares to admire. My own tip: Buy a cute coloring book and color a page. I love to color and it keeps my grazing hands busy. Just a few ideas from this nut! :)
