Prevacid is a PPI and combats stomach acid.  Gas-x just helps minimize gas in your digestive system.

I'm almost 10 months out and I've never once needed Gas-X.

I took a PPI (liquid Prilosec) for the first month or two post-op and I've had to take Nexium twice (for 14 days each) since then.

Prilosec is a PPI,protein pump inhibitor. The protein pump causes your stomach to make acid. Don't ask me why it is called a protein pump,nBut has nothing to do with the protein we eat.

When you take a PPI,it turn off the proton pump so your stomach doesn't make acid.

Gas-X breaks the gas bubbles down into very small particles that don't cause pain and pass easier.

It's a proton pump inhibitor, not protein. Sorry, I'm a nurse and had to correct that. :)
