7 weeks post op vsg TODAY!
Hi everyone! its been well 7 weeks since I have been on here lol but I did want to say thank you to everyone who wished me well right before surgery. I will admit it was even harder then I anticipated it was going to be for the first month at least but it is getting better with time like everyone said it would.I am down almost 60 pounds since surgery. I have been sooooo exhausted but got new multi vit. and that seems to be working for me. I also optted for the b12 shot even though my surgon wouldnt give it to me ( my family practice doc did) ... I will say to the pre ops if i can give you one pice of advice it would be this, get to know your surgon ! Dont settle cuz you want it done if something isnt going the way you hoped or dosent feel right then ask to see someone else or ask them to get to know them better . Its your jouney! And i am kinda jelious when I see people who have a good relationship with there surgon... mine hasent even set a goal for me and i am almost 2 months post op.... not to mention some other things i havent particulary like he has and has not done. But the surgery went well an no complecation so far so i cant complain to much i suppose. I also iam having problem w constpation... so i havent started my calcium yet.. but other than that things are moving along and iam looking forward to the rest of my jouney :-) happy lossing everyone!!
Congrats on your weight loss! 60 lbs in 7 weeks. That is great. I would encourage you to take your calcium. Your body will take what it needs from where ever it can find it. Mainly from bones. If constipation is a problem take something for it. Talk with your doctor if needed. I take something every day to keep things moving. It is a very common problem with VSG. You are doing great with the weight loss.

It sounds like things are going really well for you! Have you had post-op lab work done yet to check your levels?
My surgeon hasn't set a goal for me either, but I'm totally okay with that. I wouldn't want him to since then I might feel "finished" when I wasn't. Surgeon's goals always seem to be on the high side.
You need to be taking Calcium Citrate. 1500mg a day, in 500mg doses. For the constipation, try Miralax. It works like a charm.
