Weight loss during the pre-op diet
I am on the 10th day of my liquid diet and I have only lost 10 pounds. The past two days I haven't lost anything and I am kind of worried. I have been following the diet like the surgeon told me to. I just know losing the weight will shrink my liver more. I guess my question is how much do people normally lose during the 2 week pre op diet? Is the amount of weight I have lost not enough? Or normal?
I think a lot depends on your body type and what your starting weight is. The heavier you are then the quicker you will drop the weight. I started my pre-op at 224 and lost 12 pounds on my liquid pre-op diet. I am one month post op and have lost and additional 15 pounds for a total of 27 pounds lost so far. I could never have lost that much on a regular diet. I have gone from a size 24 to a size 16.
You are doing great. Hang in there!

As others have said, the rate and amount of loss varies from person to person. There are many factors to consider. I lost seven pounds and the surgeon said my liver was nice and small (and I was told years ago I had a fatty liver). I think it is more important to stay focused on the pre-op diet and not the scale at this point. There are many, many, many success stories and each one of them had a different path to success. Good luck with your pre-op diet. It is by far the hardest phase in my opinion.
