Weight loss during the pre-op diet

I am on the 10th day of my liquid diet and I have only lost 10 pounds. The past two days I haven't lost anything and I am kind of worried. I have been following the diet like the surgeon told me to. I just know losing the weight will shrink my liver more. I guess my question is how much do people normally lose during the 2 week pre op diet? Is the amount of weight I have lost not enough? Or normal?

Everyone is different, but 10 lbs is a lot.  You are doing great.  This really is the hardest part.  Good luck :)

Any weight loss is great! I'm having surgery on the 30th, finished day 1 of preop diet, not so bad, but just the beginning! Good luck!

I think a lot depends on your body type and what your starting weight is.  The heavier you are then the quicker you will drop the weight.  I started my pre-op at 224 and lost 12 pounds on my liquid pre-op diet.    I am one month post op and have lost and additional 15 pounds for a total of 27 pounds lost so far.  I could never have lost that much on a regular diet.  I have gone from a size 24 to a size 16.

You are doing great.  Hang in there!

I lost seven pounds on my pre-op diet and my liver was fine for surgery, just follow the plan and everything will be fine.

10 lbs is great! Mine was a 10 day diet before surgery and I lost 11 lbs! The process is working for you and your surgery is right around the corner! :)

You've lost 10lbs in 10 days that's great!  You're doing a good job just stick to the diet and you'll be fine.  I lost 15 pounds from my 2 week diet pre op and I also started at 322 so I had a lot to lose.

As others have said, the rate and amount of loss varies from person to person.  There are many factors to consider. I lost seven pounds and the surgeon said my liver was nice and small (and I was told years ago I had a fatty liver). I think it is more important to stay focused on the pre-op diet and not the scale at this point. There are many, many, many success stories and each one of them had a different path to success. Good luck with your pre-op diet.  It is by far the hardest phase in my opinion.

Keep it up.  I am 3 days post op, and the surgeon was pleased at how well I stuck to the preop diet.  I understand it makes the inside very clean  which in turn makes the surgery easier.
