Hey guys and gals! I am getting ready to go back to work after a pretty rough recovery. I had a lot of trouble getting in food and water so I had to be hospitalized twice since surgery. Anywho...now that I'm feeling ready to go back and more like my "normal" self I need some ideas for things to take to work. I'm basically there for 12 hours a day so I need breakfast, snack, and lunch suggestions. What are some things that are convenient and easy since I'm limited on time?

Depending on how far post-op you are, there are lots of things you can bring...some good things for me are: refried beans w/non flavored protein powder mixed in, sf pudding w/non flavored protein powder mixed in, lite string cheese, ham or turkey roll ups

I always bring a thermos with a protein shake.  I bought small 2 ounce containers and I would make myself a large portion of food on Sunday and then bring leftovers throughout the week. I would bring chilli, chicken, ground turkey with spaghetti sauce, beef tips in gravy, chicken and veggie soup, etc. For snacks I brought lite string cheese, turkey pepperoni, baby bells, ham & cheese roll ups, dannon lite & fit Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, etc. Now that I'm farther out I still bring the thermos and one of the snacks but I now usually bring a salad loaded with ham chunks and hard boiled egg.

Good luck!

I ended up getting Atkins frozen meals, P3, Greek yogurt, some protein shakes and protein bars, and string cheese. Were those bad choices? I'm about 10 weeks out and am stalled 50 lbs down. I've been at this same weight for the last couple weeks :(

Frozen meals usually have a lot of sodium so it could be water weight. Also keep an eye on the protein bars because some contain high fat. But stalls happen. 50 lbs in 10 weeks ua amazing progress.

What others have said, as well as hard boiled eggs. Boil a half dozen at the beginning of the week. They keep forever and are the perfect snack. Plus, 7gm of protein!

And if you are a lazy cook like me, you can buy a bag of Hardboiled Eggs at Trader Joe's (in the milk section).

I'm back to work tomorrow and I still have 1 week on full liquids, so my planning will not be to hard, RTD protein, 2 - 2 oz of blended soup and water :)  Sorry I can't help you.  I cannot wait until I go to soft and try some of the ideas I see from this forum.

Good luck at work.  My job is my big stressor and I AM NOT going to let it interfere now with me and my new tummy.

I am 3 months post op... I still keep things simple.. greek yogurt and cottage cheese. This is because I know how I feel when eating them. With other stuff I still can feel its to heavy and makes me uncomfortable. I too have long 12 hour days..

Good Luck
