Gall Bladder is finally attacking me

Question for you all.  Do you think it would be safer for us to have gall bladder surgery at a regular hospital, or do you think it should be done from our weight loss surgeons?  I think I will have to find out soon.  Thanks for your thoughts!

My bariatric surgeon was originally a general surgeon.  I went to him when mine acted up and it actually ruptured during surgery--I got amazing care.  also, he was someone I was comfortable with so that made me confident in my choice.  Best of luck--Lisa

any good general surgeon could do it but your bariatic surgeon knows his way around a sleeve and has also been in there before

My bariatric surgeon is a general surgeon (you'll find that most started out that way) and he still does all kinds of surgery.  In fact, he removed a big cyst from my armpit in December.  I would trust him with a gallbladderr surgery, no questions asked.  He has done hundreds of them.

That's probably the question you should be asking - does he have experience with gallbladder surgery?

My surgeon only does WLS, so I went to a general surgeon.

I just had my gallbladder removed last Monday (I was 10 weeks post op VSG). The same doctor that did my Sleeve removed my gallbladder. He was trained in general surgery and since he was just in there a few weeks back I thought it was best. I went in, they did the surgery and I left about 5 hours later. Recovery was much easier than VSG. I rested the next day and by day 3 I was running errands. Good luck to you...it's not fun having attacks.
