I am not going to be sleeved until march 25th but still wanted to get as much info and I can so I can be ahead of the game. I want to join this new gym but I won't until I am sleeved.

You can start walking/cardio immediately (and you should!) after surgery. I started with weights about 5 weeks post op. Plenty of body weight exercises you can do. Oh and if you can swing it, get a trainer.

I was only allowed to walk (no other cardio) for the first 6 weeks post-op. Then I was cleared for everything.

Ask your surgeon for their specific restrictions.

I was sleeved on  01/23/2015 and I was able to walk immediately. I was at the gym on the treadmill 3 days post op...walked for 30 mins. Since then I've been walking 4-6 miles a day up to 3.8 miles an hour at inclines up to 20%. I'm trying to maximize my physical activity during my convalescence. I think the exercise makes the recovery much easier. Also,  the more fit you are going in, the better your outcome. I could do light weights no more than 10 pounds. Heavier lifting has been deferred until 6 weeks post op.

Check with your surgeon as everyone has different recommendations.

I was cleared to walk immediately after surgery, but no heavy lifting or weight until six weeks post surgery.  Nothing too strenuous as your body is still healing.

I had my surgery on a Tuesday and began walking on Treadmill on Friday and never stopped since then.  I am 6 months out since surgery and doing great!  Not 1 regret!!!  So blessed and thankful for another chance for a healthier life.  I work out ALOT now.  6-7 days a week. I swim 1.5 miles twice a week, 3 hours of cardio, 3 hours of weights and walking at night (2 miles).  I've lost 86 lbs and 46 inches from size 22/24 - size 14.  This will change your life and you will feel amazing!!!  Best of luck!!!
