I'm over chewable multi-vitamins -- is there A capsule....

I can't stand the chewable vitamins anymore - I've tried 6 different kinds and they all elicit a gag reflex at this point.  I made the mistake of taking them on a not-quite-full stomach in the past.

I'm trying to find a capsule/tablet I can swallow, but everything that meets ASMBS guidelines requires minimum of 2 pills per day (200% RDA most nutrients, 36 iron, etc.)  After spending 45 minutes checking labels at a local vitamin store, I thought I'd see if anyone had found one online/at a common store that requires one pill a day to meet the ASMBS guidelines.

Thanks for any help!

The ASMBS does recommend that we stick to a chewable for the first 3-6 months post-op, so I'd suggest checking with your doc before switching to a pill.

Carol here mixes her chewables up with yogurt since she has issues chewing them, and that might be really tasty and worth a try for you!

I can't help with a recommendation - I don't think that there are pills that exist with 200% in one pill!  You might find one that has 100% though and you could just take it twice a day.

Thanks Gwen - Oops...I think I skimmed over the part where it says take chewables for the first 3-6 months and went directly to the RDA guidelines.  Thanks for the heads up, as always.  I'll give the yogurt thing a try.

Hope all is well with you and your family.  Been thinking about your father and sending all my good wishes!

chewables gave me super bad diarrhea (TMI) - i take the bariatric advantage ultra without iron. it's a super good one. Dr C says it can be rough on the sleeve if you take it without food (the few times it's happened to me i get super nauseous). but they're kind of big and you have to take it 3x per day. i had the same challenge trying to find one that meets our needs that only needs to be taken once per day. sunaina said after 6 weeks we could transition to capsules, but it's def a chore having to do it 3 every day.

i did one tablespoon of this liquid twice a day in the first month: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003BI137W/ref=ox_sc_sfl_image_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1KWEPMVYU2C4T  - do you think you'd be interested in a liquid?

My nutritionist gave me samples of Bariatric Advantage's Ultra Multi vitamin with iron, it's a capsule and you can break it up and mix it with food, best to mix it with sf chocolate pudding, you can't taste it at all,  3 months supply for $49

I've never seen a 200% multi. I've been using a CVS generic version of Centrum. I got them when they were BOGO, and a year's supply cost me about 8 bucks.

So, Grim_Traveller - are you swallowing Centrum or are they chewable?  I'm 6.5 months post-op and HATE chewing vitamins.

Chewables are recommended by many surgeons (and the ASMBS) but others say it's okay if you can handle the pills.  Another option is the multi-plus patches from PatchMD.com  I just started using them and still add calcium citrate.  I put a patch on overnight and it has uncomplicated my vitamin routine.  They not only meet, but exceed the ASMBS recommendations now.
