Hi There!

YAY! I am one month out today =] It has been a learning experience, but I am so thankful that I had the surgery!! So here is a quick update on what I have been up to.

The good: As of today, I have lost 22 pounds, post op. I swear all the weight loss is in my boobs! HAHA!

The bad: I am still in so much pain!!!! The pain is on the right side, by the incision, and goes from a 3-4 pain level during the day to a 8-9 pain level in the evening. The surgeons office is aware of the pain and they believe it is muscle related. I have a follow up next Friday to make sure. I am out of pain meds, so that sucks! I still can not sleep in my bed because the pain is so bad at night and I hurt when I go from sitting to standing. I feel like I am the only one going through this pain this far out from surgery =[

Other than the pain, I am doing good. I measure every little thing and never eat more then 2-3 ounces at a time. I am starting puree foods today and am so excited to have fish for dinner!! I get my 64 ounces of water in but am struggling with the protein. I can not stomach the protein shakes but everything I eat has protein in it. I also do struggle a little with head hunger. I would love a HUGE spoonful of peanut butter, some ice cream and a bowl of popcorn!! My 2 favorite foods!

That about sums up the first month. I will be a GMA sometime during the second month! YAY!

Congrats!

We are so close with all of our stats!  I was sleeved 3/9/14 and am down 20lbs.   Doesn't it feel good!  Enjoy your fish, I had Tilapia for dinner myself.  I have also found that using canned chicken breast, a Chicken Salad is very good, easy to make, and easy to digest!  Refried beans w cheese... it is a whole new world with puree/soft foods.  I am perfectly content with my 2 oz.

You sound like you are doing great!

What I have found that works for the protein part is to take 16oz of water and mix it will unflavored protein powder and 2 packs of Crystal light. I use two packs because the protein dilutes the flavor. But I try to do two of those a day and then the rest is from food. I have been able to meet my intake that way,

I do still struggle with the water though! So it's good that you have that down pat!

You're welcome, Joanna! I hope it works for you. I use the fruit punch so I'm unsure on the others. But that is just my preference ☺

Hi, there VSG sister, we were sleeve the same day.  I am now one month out.  It is so funny i haven't notice the month went by so fast.  I count the weeks and totally forgot the day.  I am so head hungry as well is like we have not eat in a long time and wish we could devour a plate of food, but cant.  I am eating 2-4 TBS of food at times, my dietitian  told me that protein shakes are the most important thing so if i need to skip something in my intake it should be the meal because the protein is the one sustaining me and healing me.  My work is so hectic that i don't have time to eat because it takes 30-40 min for me to finish, then wait 45 before drinking, and i rather be drinking than going throught the torture of eating. I had the lap band back in 2007, lost about 70 lb had issues with it and had it removed.

I just started walking 3 miles, my doctor says i have to wait before i can start exercise.  i do ground turkey with mushroom and peppers, chillie boiled eggs, hummus , but i too im tired of the protein.

my starting weight was 224.2 CW 206 Goal 135.  I'm 5'6" 45yrs.

Please keep in touch

Yea, this head hunger is rough, but doable! I too had the lap band in 2007 :) May of 2007. I also lost around 70 pounds and kept it off until I started having reflex and they had to unfill me. This is why I was revised to the sleeve :)
