How much should I be losing the first 2 to 3 months?

I don't know if I'm on track or not. Since my pre-op op diet March 20th, I've lost 36 pounds. That's 12 pounds a month, is that a little low? When I look at it as a whole, 36 pounds in 3 months is great. I guess I expected greater loss in the beginning, but that may be above average and I'm on track. I'm hitting my 60+ grams of protein and my 64 ounces of water. I'm very conscious of what I'm doing and not over eating. I realize everyone is different and the weight loss is individual, but I still feel like I'm not achieving what I should. I'm on track to make my goal of 155 by next April loosing about 10 pounds a month. Maybe I'm worrying too much and should be pleased with my progress. Any thoughts?

I think you answered your own question. Focus on following your plan as faithfully as you can and don't get stressed about the speed of weight loss. This isn't a test, or a race. Relax and enjoy the trip

I think 12 pounds a month is great.  I know its easy to obsess about the weight loss.  Its almost addictive to watch the scale fall. But in the long run, does it really matter if you reach goal in 8 months or 12 months or 18months?  As long as you are making progress, and every month you are healthier and more mobile, does it really matter how fast it happens? 

I know because I let every plateau, every slow-down bum me out.  Looking back, I reached goal in 18 months.  I lost 225 pounds and reached a normal BMI.  Looking back,  I realize that it was phenomenal!  So take joy in your progress, and try not to make yourself crazy. You'll get there is you stick to your plan.

If you're losing 12 pounds a month pre-op (amazing, BTW; I could only lose 10 pounds total), you don't need to worry much about post-op weight loss. Some drop weight like an avalanche. Some drop it more slowly. The steadiness of loss is what's most important. Good luck!

If you follow better eating habits your new tummy will take care of most everything else.  I am 2 days shy of 5 months post op and you can see my ticker I am moving towards goal and I don't care how fast, I just know weight is coming off.  As long as you are losing and not gaining I wouldn't sweat it bc we are all different.  This forum is a great resource and you can gage by others what may/may not work for you.  Good luck
