Chewable Vitamins Forever?

I know I need to ask my doctor this question but thought I'd ask here before I have my next appointment.  Has your physician/nutritionist stated that you need to take chewable vitamins forever or is there a point when VSG patients can take whole vitamins without chewing?

On our program, we never used them at all (though I suppose some did if they found it easier at first,) just taking a normal one with a sip of water. We may have to skip it for a few days if the inflammation isn't permitting anything beyond liquids through, but there's no particular reason to avoid them in the long term. The only chewables I used was calcium as those tablets tend to be such horsepills, and I had already ordered a bucketload of them online, but there are petite pills of those available as an alternative.

It's mostly RNY doctrine (maybe lapband, too, as that has a similar problem) that seeks to avoid pills as they can get stuck in the stoma, which isn't a problem that we have with the sleeve, but many docs carry over their RNY practices to their sleeve patients.

Recently had 6 mnth with Nut & she said I could now use a regular Women's vitamin with iron. Great because I truly dislike the chewables!

Chewables are recommended in the early stage of post-op. I was swallowing regular sized vitamins at 3 months. But vitamins are definitely forever, which ever way you choose to take them.

My surgeon was more concerned with patient compliance in actually taking vitamins than he was in chewables/liquid/tablets. That said, I did all chewables for the first 3-4 months and when I ran out, I replaced the with regular tablets. I haven't had labs pulled yet, but I've been 100% on track with vitamins, so I'm hoping everything looks good when my blood work is done on my next visit.

Thank you all!  Have a call into the doc's office and really appreciate your feedback.  Am at the end of month 4 and got a new bottle of the chewables I had been taking with no problem.  For some reason (I think it's a "new and improved formula lol), they now taste so horrible!  I have been taking my other meds whole (BP etc.) with no problems.

The ASMBS recommends that we do chewables for the first 3-6 months post-op.
