The waiting game...

My first round of appointments are finished and my file is being submitted for insurance approval today! She said they have heard back anywhere from 24 hours to four weeks.....I know this can take awhile, but it is still exciting!

I know that the wait time varries. But after you had final insurance approval, how long until your surgery? I am guessing maybe October or early November?  The waiting is so hard!

How exciting!! Once I got my insurance approval, I waited about 3 weeks for surgery - as per my surgeon's schedule. Two of those were the worst weeks ever as I had to do a full 2-week liquid diet prior to surgery, but I would do it all again in a heartbeat!

after insurance approval, I will have " doctor extravaganzia round two." My Doctor requires an upper GI, a sleep study, final appointment with the nutritionist, ect. In the mean time, I will continue support group meetings, weekly weigh-ins and turning in food journals weekly. They do not require you to loose a specific amount of weight before surgery. However, they said that your wiegh-ins and food journals must show "significant lifestyle changes" before they will operate.  I will also have a two-week liquid diet. That is the part I am most dreading, but I will get through it. They said the biggest hurdle is the sleep study, as it can take awhile to get an appointment.

My center is the strictest in the area for pre-op requirements, but I'm glad becasue I feel very prepared and educated.

I hear you! I had to also do an upper GI, sleep study, and 2 nutritionist appointments, as well as a cardiologist appointment, and another with a psychologist - but that was all prior to insurance approval. I was super nervous about surgery but the hospital coordinator really made me feel better by reminding me of all the hoops I had to jump through and how they wouldn't do any of that stuff for something like a gallbladder removal. Made me feel that much safer. :)

I was approved in 3 business days and got a date for 1 month , but had to cancel that , I had a skin infection, and resecdules for the next month

It all depends on your surgeons schedule and if there is a room available at the hospital

hey i had a long wait due to insurance appeal, pre op tests and dr. schedule.  5 years later i am still at goal. it was so worth it.

but resolve to spend your waiting time doing things toward your goal. like start some healthier eating habits and a walking program.  study nutrition and learn all you can about your procedure. gl. diane

From approval to surgery date it was a 6 week wait for me. It sucked but I used all my pre-op time to get good habits down and lose weight. Take advantage!!
