I'm Back.. AND.......

Well, hi folks.. I know, I have been sorta MIA for a couple of months. I went to California in July to visit with my youngest daughter and celebrate grandson's first birthday. We went to the gym at least 4 days a week. I found out that going to the gym is not for weight loss--for me at least. It did/does tone up what you have if you are consistent. And that is one of the major things this journey is about, right.. Consistency, committment, dedication, honesty (with oneself), accountable (no one holds you down and shoves THAT food into you), and the real "want-to, need-to". I did manage to lose a few lbs while there. We ate pretty much on track.. but she introduced me to "SkinnyPop" popcorn. Oh my. 4 cups only 150 calories and like 15 gms of carbs. Makes for a fairly good snack for those times of wanting something a little salty and a little crunchy. Sweets never really been my thing. So, I did go from 182 to 172 while there.. Not too shabby for an older lady.

BUT, today is the day. TA DA... I officially hit the century club. Weight is 168.8 from high point of 269. This is THE major goal for me (not final).

We stayed pretty busy while out there. Then I had umbilical hernia repair the beginning of October so out of commision to thwe most part. No gym or strenuous anything.. BUT

I am back.. I am on track. I am going to stay on track. And I have missed y'all..

Welcome Back! Sounds like you enjoyed your visit and managed to stay on track at the same time. (Which is hard to do when you are out of your element). Missed your posts, so glad you are back!

Congratulations!!! I bet that century mark feels wonderful!!!

When you say "I found out that going to the gym is not for weight loss--for me at least"...what do you mean? I ask only because I'm considering joining a gym but have heard a lot of negative about working out during weight-loss phase which I don't understand at all! Exercise is good I thought???

Exercise is great. and addicting.. lol.. Most ppl go into the exercise routine expecting a tremendous wt loss. I found that (on reflection) I DID lose about 8 or 10 lbs the 2 months that I was there. But more importantly I gained stamina, re distributed inches I think, built some muscles in my arms and legs. One should look at it as an addition to the weight loss. It does help to burn calories. The SkinnyPop popcorn and the mexican foods don't help one bit. That was more of what I was inferring to. lol.. I love going to the gym.. I do feel a difference. I couldn't do everything that I wanted to because of my hernia. Now that is fixed, watch out world (and gym) here I come. By all means, do it. JOIN.. You will feel so much better.

Fabulous news all around! And thanks for the review of skinnypop---I think that is something I will need to stay away from!
