Current weight: 182 lbs!!!!  When I started my journey I gave myself a goal of 165 lbs.  While losing weight I revised it to 175.  Last night I was looking myself in the mirror and thought 170 would be better.  I'm still a size 14/16 and I'm so close to 175 so what's a few more pounds right?  So I turn to my fiance and ask him how much more he thinks I should lose.  He takes a nice long look at me and says "I'd say 25 more pounds."

That would bring me below 160, a weight that I haven't seen since I was running cross country races when I was 16!  Needless to say, the number 25 has been in my head all day.  I thought I was so close to goal, and now 25 sounds like such a HUGE number.  Especially since my weight loss has slowed to a grinding halt (not truly, but that's what it feels like nowadays).

I've lost 140lbs... should I make it 165?  Moral of the story: Don't ask questions you don't want the answers to.  Or better yet... men suck (sorry boys! )

Regardless... I am SO DAMN PROUD OF MYSELF!! I love my life now and that's the most important thing for me to remember! Even if I were to stop losing weight right now, I am the happiest I have been in years!

Before: July 2014 322 lbs

After: November 2015 182 lbs

Congratulations!  You look wonderful!  Did you discuss a "goal" weight with your surgeon or PCP?  I hit my PCP's original "goal" weight of 170 today on my 11 month post-op morning weigh in.  He's revised me down to 140-150...so yea 20 or 25 pounds can seem like a lot, especially when the loss is slowing down.  I only lost 7 pounds in month 11.  Felt kinda bummed but still thrilled with my overall progress.

Do you think you can lose the rest and maintain there?  For me that's the key, I want to be able to maintain once the weight loss phase is over without having to kill myself to do so.

I have the opposite problem as you, my husband is concerned that I've already lost plenty.

I am jealous of your 7 lb loss in month 11! Congrats on your success!

My surgeon really didn't give me a goal.  He did say he expected me to be able to reach 180lbs by the time I reached 12 months post op.  I was around 190 at my 1 year post op appointment so from July to now I've only lost 10 lbs.  That's why the 25 sounds so huge to me.. a 2-3 pound loss per month is so low.  It'll take me until this time next year to lose that much weight! Granted, some carbs have crept back into my diet (not a lot, but enough to justify the slowed loss).  I know if I buckle down I can do it.  It's just so much harder now.

I do feel pretty confident that when I find my happy place weight wise I'll be able to maintain.  This journey has taught me a lot and I'm not going to let myself get back there ever!

I know that might seem slow at 2-3 lbs per month, but you're going in the right direction.    Maybe if you drop some of those added carbs you'll speed up a little.  See how that works for you.

Your goal weight should be something you can easily maintain while living the life you want to live. We all get to choose our own goal weights. If you want to lose more, then do so, if not, then don't and work on maintaining (which we all know is much much harder).

The mental part is the hardest.

You look great! 140 pound loss is AMAZING. What was your exercise regiment? How many times a week did you exercise?

Thank you!!

I didn't exercise much at first except walking/jogging.  When I got down to a weight in which I could more comfortably jump around I began doing some beach body workouts like the 21 day fix because the program makes you do everything (yoga, pilates, cardio, strength, stretching, etc).  That was a 7 day a week program but I only did that for a few months.  Throughout the majority of my journey I mostly kept active by doing a lot of walking, stationary biking, and jogging.  I get in 10,000 steps or more every day. :-)
