Hi everyone,

I had my sleeve done a little over a year and a half ago. I was 375 and am now 235, with a goal of 190. Im down 140lbs. I started crossfit back in July and immediately fell in love. I have been in and out though because of injuries(horse related, not crossfit). and have been plateaued for a long time now. Now that I am really starting to get into a solid routine of crossfit I have been feeling VERY fatigued during the workouts. I talked with some of the coaches and explained my situation to them, diet wise, and like most people that don't have bariatric surgery they all cringe at my low-carb, low calorie lifestyle. I had one that wanted me to bump up to 1500 calories, and higher healthy carbs everyday, so I tried it. My workouts ROCKED and I felt like I had the most energy since I can remember, but I have also not lost anymore weight and have even gain a little. I know that I am probably gaining muscle, but after working my butt off to lose so much weight it freaks me the heck out to watch the scale go up! Has anyone succeeded doing crossfit but still maintaining a very low carb lifestyle? What about calories? Is 1500 just too much?? I plan to make a nutritionist appointment asap but just trying to get any help or suggestions until then :) Thanks in advance!

How many calories were you getting before you went up to 1500?  Can you, perhaps, split the difference?  Or just try 100 calorie at a time increases?  Or can you rearrange your meal times so that you're fueling better right before crossfit?

I am buying the Garmin Index scale as soon as they are available

It measures weight, body mass index (BMI), percentage of body fat, muscle and bone mass, and water percentage

There is technology that measure these things so we don't have to guess whether we are gaining muscle mass or holding water.

You are no longer in rapid weight loss mode.  You will have to determine how many calories you can eat and still lose weight.

You need a fitness tracker, a digital kitchen scale and My Fitness Pal.  Weighing and tracking your food precisely will give you the feedback you need to succeed.

You needed close to 4000 calories a day to maintain 375.  Now you should be maintaining at about 2400 and losing a pound or two a week at 1500. But after the quick weight loss metabolism does slow down and you may not be able to lose at 1500.

Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
