Tonight I had to go with my daughter to her softball team party it was bring a finger food. How the crap do you figure out what to take knowing you are not going to get to eat ANYTHING!?  I decided not to cook anything which is what I would have done before. I ran into the store grabbed a meat and cheese tray.  Now on to the party...walk in the door and the smell of wonderfulness floods my senses. Start telling myself it would taste yucky, everyone else will be regretting everything they ate because they ate too much but you won't.

I sit myself in the chair the farthest from the food. Everyone else starts eating and then the question aren't you going to eat anything?  I politely say no I had something to eat before I left the house (albeit 3 oz of broth) and I'm really working to make changes by not eating things I shouldnt. These people do not know that I've had surgery. But then I get compliments of well you can tell you've lost quite a bit. Yay!  It was the hardest thing even though I've not been hungry but I did it and beat the head hunger and sensory overload.  Of course knowing that there was no way anything would go down anyway didn't hurt either.

Wow, great job!  Every time you practice something like this it will get a bit easier.

Look at the party girl! Straight from the OR into the food fray! At the same point post-op, it was all I could do to take a shower. That was my big effort for the day. Glad to hear your recovery is going so well.

And you're right -- yakking something up in front of everyone is a strong deterrent to eating.
