Pre-surgery, when I did laundry, I would have my husband take the folded laundry upstairs because I would get too winded trying to carry the basket up the stairs. I'm not even talking about a full basket, just the laundry for him and me from one load.

Today, I decided to go ahead and do the laundry (I usually wait until the weekend.) I did the usual stack-it-in-the-basket-for-the-hubby bit, but it was full after three loads and I thought, "Why not just take it up so he doesn't have to come home to it?" While I was at it, I threw my daughter's laundry and the linens from the second bathroom on top. By now, the basket was so full I was going to have to use my chin to keep things from falling out.

I dreaded those stairs so much, because I just knew I was going to be huffing and puffing long before I reached the top. However, half way up, I realized that I wasn't huffing or puffing and that I didn't even feel a strain. I actually picked up my speed and reached the top with no problem.

I am so amazed by how much my life has improved in such a short amount of time.

That is so awesome!  It's the little daily things isn't it?  I have a 2 story home as well and used to dread the stairs.  Now, I don't usually even think about them.

It really is the little things that mean the most. I was telling my husband the other day how I don't feel all that much different and I think I look the same. (He disagrees with the "looks the same" part.) It's those little things that prove to me that I really am changing.

Wonderful NSV!  I love it.  I remember when walking across the room used to be painful.  Now I can walk a mile, and not even notice.  I love my sleeve!  Keep up the good work!

This is sooooooooooo excellent and I'm glad you pushed the envelope and WON!!!!!!!

I can completely appreciate it too.  I work in a hospital (pathology) and used to dread even walking to the bathroom (we won't even discuss how scary the thought of walking from the garage to our department was).  I had tons of tricks up my sleeve (pretending to talk on my phone or checking through my handbag for absolutely nothing, just so I could try and catch my breath),

Two nights ago a co-worker couldn't get into the building (and it was crazy cold out). I said I'd meet her at an appointed entrance and without thinking, rushed to her and even took the stairs (going down tends to be more painful).  When I let her in, she pointed out how "un-breathy" I was . . . . YAY!!!!

We had our surgery on the same day go us.  Congrats on your health getting better

It is those seemingly small things (you know the physical things non overweight people take for granted) that make this journey so worth it! I sit down every so often and remember the things that I couldn't do before that I now "take for granted"! 

I'm so happy for you! Yours is one of the best NSVs because it illustrates so beautifully how our lives change for the better after WLS. We don't just get thin, we get to live a normal life!

Denae - you are young enough and have lost enough weight now that you will be AMAZED at all the things you can do!  Challenge yourself on doing a little bit more, going a little bit longer, lifting heavier things.  Your stamina and strength will increase dramatically over time
