Do your calcium pills have D3 in them? If not, you can switch to a combined one-- I take a Citracal + D3 and it works great.

I have a weekly pill case and keep everything in there, that way I just throw a whole handful of them back before bed. Vitamins, allergy meds, that sort of thing. Makes it way easier!

Yes, it's important to take calcium because we have a higher risk of osteoporosis after WLS.

Take 1,200 to 2,000 mg of calcium daily to prevent calcium deficiency and bone disease. To enhance absorption, take the calcium in two to three divided doses throughout the day - for example, a 500 to 600 mg supplement taken three times a day. Calcium citrate is the preferred form of calcium.

Also worth noting-- biotin certainly won't hurt anything, but it doesn't do a darn thing to prevent hair loss that accompanies surgery, so it may not be worth taking if it's expensive.

oh I know the biotin doesn't do nothing for hair loss. I lost  A LOT!!! what is the point of taking the biotin then? glad its not too expensive since it does nothing. I thought that I was told its for hair re-growth? maybe?! but when this bottle is gone I will not re fill it. and I will definitely go get the calcium and get that started. it worries me that the paperwork/nor the dr mentioned calcium to me when I had surgery. thanks for your help!
