Hi Clamcake65,

I was also in my 60's when I had my vsg, and I wondered if it was "too late."  I am so glad I did it because I lost 98% of my excess body weight, going from 385 to 160.  I cannot believe how much it has improved my life, and how happy I am that I did it.  I'm over 3 years post op and maintaining within a few pounds of goal.

I think you are going to be so happy with your surgery.  Its not an easy process, but it is so worth the aggravation.

best wishes,

Carol

Good morning Carol.

Thanks, for taking the time to respond back to me.

My age, is the one factor that bothers me.

I just needed some reassurance, which you gave me.

I will keep you updated.

Thanks so much.

Hi!!!!

I started my journey after having the vsg on July 24, 2015 at 292 lbs(267 on surgery day)/57 years old.  I'm now at 162 and feel swonderful.   I get many comments from dorky people about hanging skin and regain.  HELLO!  I'm in the last portion of my wonderful life.  Things would have hung on their own.  No chance for regain as I choose not to, on a daily basis.  I can walk and breathe and get on ladder at my new home to clean out the gutters (hubby is scared of heights).   I no longer dread parking in the garage at work and seeing how far I have to walk and pulling my silly tricks of pretending like I have to check my handbag or phone (to buy time to catch my breath).  I finally understand how my son and family look at food as nourishment, as opposed to a celebration.   YAY!!!!!

You can do this.  You're going to love this wonderful tool.  Things change fast and slow and somewhere in between, but the changes make you smile each day with a sparkle!

Joanne

Thanks, Joanne,

I already have the saggy stomach, but my surgeon said, everything will get smaller, even my hernia.

I appreciate the encouragement.
