I had my surgery on 8/2 and today I'm 3 weeks out. The scale this morning said 221.8, that's a loss of 19.4 lbs since the morning of surgery.

At the beginning it was a rough start, I was in the hospital an extra night because of severe nausea but once I was home it slowly got better. I try and take several walks a day that add up to 1-2 miles. I've been getting my 32oz minimum of water per day as well as a minimum of 60 grams of protein.

I'm not even a month out and I'm almost down 20 lbs! I cannot wait to see how much I weigh at my next doc follow up on Sep 14.

Congrats! That's a great start. Just to give you a heads up that you are at a common milestone where many people encounter a stall. The dreaded 3 week stall. Don't be freaked out, it happens to most people. Its just your body adjusting to your new lifestyle. Just stick to your program, it will end soon enough.

Thanks Keith, I'll keep that in mind when I weigh myself next week and the scale doesn't move much.

You are off to a fantastic start! Do try to get a LOT more water or other fluids in. You need extra to burn all the fat you are getting rid of, and to process your protein.

Thanks for the advice Grim, I'll keep that in mind and try to sip sip sip even more. At my 2 week follow up I hadn't been getting in the required min of 32oz and both my surgeon and dietician told me to make sure I'm getting at least the minimum so I have been. This is the start of a new week so I'll do my best to get more and more in as the weeks go by.

Thanks for the advice Theduffman, This week i was just happy to reach the minimum requirement of 32oz. With this being the start of a new week I'll do my best to up the water intake to meet and exceed the 32 oz min.

I havent had surgery yet, but my post-op plan gave me a schedule for liquid intake. It says if you sip 4 oz every hour in an hour, from the time you wake up until you go to bed, you will get your fluid in, maybe even double. :) I think 4oz doses are much easier to approach than a 32 or 64 oz bottle, trying to sip it down throughout the day. Maybe less intimidating :) Good luck and congrats on your loss so far!!
