I have to see a Hematologist before I have surgery on 9/26/16. Can anyone tell me what to expect during this visit. Thanks

I would expect a review of your history and specific reasons for seeing a hematologist--perhaps lab work. Go prepared and take a medication list with your current medications, doses, length of time taking that med, allergies to other meds, supplements and vitamins you take, if any, etc.

That has pretty much been my experience as well.  In addition, depending on the particular patient, expect to leave with orders for lab work and possibly for imaging as well.

when I saw a hematologist it was specifically to discuss my risk for blood clot formation. We went over my labs, my full medical history as well as any history in my family of blood clots.

if you are anemic - and you need to get more test- ask him to check copper... too much is not good - not enough is not good... (my hema told me to make sure I get that checked)
