Feeling down. Only a week and a half out and already at a stall. I haven't lost anything in over a week. Is this normal this soon out from surgery? I'm down 10 pounds from surgery weight which I'm so happy for, but didn't expect a stall this soon out. Any advice.... Thanks

Hi, Let me start by saying congrats for the 10 lb loss, that is awesome. I am only 8 day post Op myself. I have read though on numerous posts that people say to make sure you are getting all your protein in on a daily basis and water also, this can aid in your loss. Keep your head up and don't get discouraged, it will start up again   sending you good vibes from Maine!!!

Hi:

I'm just about ready to have surgery....am waiting for a date.  Can you tell me how much you've lost since the surgery? I've heard about the importance of protein and water as well.

Good luck to both of you from New Hampshire!

Hi Lorylight

There really isn't such a thing as "normal" because each of our bodies are wonderfully different and everyone is going to have different responses post surgery.

That being said it can be common for people not to lose or even slightly gain at some stage after surgery for several reasons: hormones, drug reactions, healing, food intolerances , etc. The key thing to remember is your body has gone thru a massive operation and needs time to recover and "reset" itself - if you follow your surgeons eating and drinking plan to the letter, walk as much as you can and rest when needed you will be successful! If a stall continues for a few weeks then do talk to your surgeon as it may be something they can help with.

It's so easy to get hooked on the delicious (I chose that word deliberately) feedback our scales give us. It will come, in the meantime when you don't see change it can have the opposite effect and really bum us out.  If you can try say to yourself you are not going to go near the scale for 1 whole week. Stay true to your program and keep us posted how you get on in a week. Good luck and congrats on getting to post op week 1.5; that is a huge achievement in itself. You got this :)

C

When I went back for my first appointment after surgery (4 days later) I had gained 8 lbs.  The surgeon said this is normal as they pump us full of fluids and can carry that extra water weight around for up to two weeks depending on there person.

Celebrate being down 10 lbs so quickly, that is awesome.

I'm 9 days post op and having a similar issue. I haven't lost anything in 3 days. I am hungry a lot and craving meat badly. I really watched what I consumed today, when I went to the grocery store I was a little light headed, I think it's the lack of calories. I hope this works for me.

VSG 11/17/16  down 18 lbs so far.

Hoping to rid myself of 100 lbs and health issues.
