Well it's here...FINALLY..my surgery is tomorrow! When I started my journey back in May it seemed like this day was so far off, but since it was scheduled the time has just flown by. Of course I have tried to keep busy to keep the nerves at bay, but I honestly am still scared and nervous. I know that is normal, but this is going to change my life in so many ways, probably ways I have yet to imagine. My goal for now is to just stick to my surgeons plan..so far he has helped me to lose 56 lbs pre op..I trust him and his staff. I have faith that God brought me to this and He will see me through this! Thank you all for being there to answer questions and for giving me somewhere to come everyday for research and support! Any last minute words of encouragement or advice are welcome..see you on the losers bench!!

I just had my surgery December 1st. Wishing you the best of luck and will keep you in my thoughts! My advice that I kind of wish I had done was staying at the hospital as long as you can - the reason I say this is because Its someone else's job (nurses) to worry about how often you take your meds and although home may sound good, it can wait another day. (I could have stayed another night but only stayed 1) And of course night two happened to be the worst for me by far. I made a chart for all my meds (times I took them and next dosage time) and that really helped me not feeling so overwhelmed with all of the meds. I was very very active after surgery! I pretty much walked every hour (even during the night) because it helped me feel better. Bring a pillow for the ride home so you can press it against your stomach for support. Never really went through much pain thankfully! I was very diligent with my meds. Best of luck  you got this!!!

Best of luck to you.  I had surgery 12 days ago and besides being a little tired, I feel great!

Congratulations.  Yes, it is normal to be scared.  But surgery techniques are so much better today than in the past, and you will most likely come thru it just fine. I was surprised how uneventful my surgery was!  So try to save the worrying for later.  If you need to worry, you'll have plenty of time to do that when there is something to worry about! (smile).

You'll do great.

best wishes,

Carol

I had my surgery on 10/31/16.  Before you know it you will be back home and recovering.  I will be thinking of you and praying for you.  Yes, God will see you through.  Hugs!

Time flies :)  My pre-op wait is barely a memory these days and it was only like 17 months ago.

Enjoy and focus on your habits.  Make the most of cultivating new ones, and don't be in a hurry to accelerate the process.  I miss the two months post-op the most, actually, in retrospect.

I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!
