I suspect you just hit the three week stall about the same time as you started the soft food diet.  It is very common to stall at about three to four weeks post surgery.

I'd recommend continuing with the soft food diet, as long as your tummy does not object.  Log everything you eat in a service such as my fitness pal.  At about 1 month post-op, I was eating around 600 calories a day.

Do stay away from carbs, as they can cause food cravings, and water retention which will affect the scale.  but if you eat about 600-800 calories a day, you will be burning fat, and it will show on the scale eventually.

best wishes,

Carol

Thank you I thought I was doing something wrong and got scared I am only able to do 3oz of soft foods at a time and I am full so my dietitian told me to make freeze pops with my protein drinks and have one every 2 hrs and 3 planned meals a day no cars just green veggies and tuna or some other meat that's high in protein low in fat and she gave me some tiny mini cups to measure everything in and I never feel hungry anymore just trying to get food in me as they ordered me to do.

My tummy was very swollen after surgery and I could only eat 1 to 1.5 ounces per meal until about 7 weeks post-op when the swelling went down.  So 3 ounces sounds luxurious to me (smile).

I supplemented with chicken broth with protein powder.  In fact, I would put protein powder in anything I could stir yogurt, sugar-free jello, sugar-free and fat-free puddings, ricotta cheese, etc..   You'll find a way to make it work.

I didn't feel hungry for the first few months, also.  I'd say, "enjoy it while it lasts".  Some people don't have the hunger recur, but my hunger is back.

Best of luck on your weight loss journey

Carol

I agree with what everyone else has answered about the "dreaded" third week stall. Just keep to your plan and all of a sudden it will fall back into place. Don't laugh, but what got my head around the stall was trying on my old clothes and even though the scale didn't move for a little while, the clothes got looser and looser.............once the scale started to move again, I put the big clothes in the donation bag. Every now and then if I feel that I'm not losing enough or fast enough, I'll try on something that fit a month ago.....it works for me.

All that being said...best of everything in getting moving again!
