Hello from Seville!

Hi All,

I just wanted to say Hi to you all. I've been busy preparing to travel, then traveling, and then living and studying in Spain.

This has been quite an adventure, especially the "Immersion" part where all the classes and tours are in Spanish. We are living with a host family who don't speak English, so communication includes a lot of pointing and struggling for words.

But it is just what I wanted. Lots of learning. lots of practice hearing and comprehending Spanish. The classes are small - 6 students, so there is lots of individual attention, and everyone is in the same boat, struggling to understand. I'm loving it.

I am walking so much - 8.5 miles the first day of school - less once we started using the bus for some of the trips. We are in the old part of the city, both the school and our home, so its an interesting walk, anyway.

I don't have a scale, but I think I'm eating healthy enough, that together with the walking, I should maintain my weight. In any case, I'm feeling healthy and will get back on my routine when I get home.

Best wishes to you all,

Carol

You're so brave to do this! I really admire that you're putting yourself into such an immersive program. You'll come back speaking like a native Spaniard!

Hey Carol,

I always loved your story !

You committed yourself to the education and process and built a solid foundation. You are reaping the benefits of a better life !!!

I have been to Spain/Barcelona 4 or 5 times post VSG and have always enjoyed the food.

Truth be known, I based Cafe Frisco and my whole post op eating after "Tapas". Tapas are pretty much based on high flavor small plate eating.

Congrats on your next level adventure !

OMG I am so envious! I visited Seville for the first time in September and it's just the absolute best place. I feel like it was relatively easy to eat in a more-or-less bariatric friendly manner, too, since it seems like a lot of Spanish cuisine is pretty "protein-first" it that makes sense. And yes, it's so walkable!

Enjoy your time in Spain. Try not to feel bad about how jealous I, an internet stranger, am. ;)

I have a basement but don't dwell in it full time.
