I used to love nuts and seeds of all kinds. Pistachios were my all time favorite. Now though, they make me very sick! I get terrible stomach cramps within 10-15 minutes when I eat any kind of nut anymore. Makes me a little sad :( Was there anything that just stopped agreeing with you all after surgery?

So far the only thing I've had issues with is milk. I can eat cheese and yogurt and stuff, but not milk, it makes me nauseous. Well, and my favorite daily, I used to live on it drink--Crystal Light Green Tea w/Peach and Mango. Well pretty much any kool-aid type drink...can't stand any of them now. Way too sweet and just taste icky.

Have you tried diluting your favorite Crystal Light? My go-to drink is a mix of Crystal Light Orange and Lemonade with Gatorade G2 Fruit Punch. But I mix it in a 2-liter pitcher and use 1/4 teaspoon of orange, 1/4 teaspoon of lemonade, and 1/2 teaspoon of G2. (I mix the orange and lemonade powder together when I buy them, so this isn't quite as annoying to make as it sounds!)

This gives me flavor, but it's not very sweet at all. (I've had issues with sweet drinks forever, it's why I prefer a more bitter chocolate protein powder.)

Unfortunately yes, I tried diluting it by various degrees. It turned out it's not just the sweetness, but absolutely all of them just taste gross to me now. I tried about 15 different brands and flavors, including Mio and that sort of thing...nothing tasted good except the Diet Lipton Green Tea/Citrus. At least I found that lol

I've tried my favorite 3 different times, each time it's a no go.

I might give your mix a try, maybe it will hit the right note for me!

I keep hoping one day my taste buds will get back to normal...but I'm not counting on it!

It IS great that you've found something you like, since that's really all that matters! I'm one of the lucky ones who didn't have taste bud change post-op, but it's definitely a thing that people experience and that sucks. Sorry you've had to deal with it!

Maybe at your year surgiversary you'll find that you like the way things taste that you liked before. Or.. who knows, maybe by then you won't care? When I had to give up fructose (so all soda and non-citrus juices) I missed those things a lot for a while, but now? Meh. I'm never even tempted. But it's been probably 10 years now.

I'd try them again in a few months and see what happens - don't give up on them forever.

For me it's falafel. I haven't tried homemade falafel, but all the falafel I've had in restaurants ha**** my stomach like a load of bricks. I love falafel, so this sucks.

Chicken breast, if it's cooked and served whole and plain, also gets me. So if I'm going to eat "piece of chicken" I stick to thighs these days.

Ice cream. I can eat a very little bit-1 or 2 spoons, that's it. I have issues with milk too, but have used the lactose free one for my shakes and doing ok. Cheese, yogurt are no problem.

I am 3 years post op and can eat most foods without any issues, but I've learned that just because I CAN doesn't necessarily mean that I SHOULD.

I think you are very early out - and things won't sit right on your stomach for a while - like maybe a year even. I had alot of trouble with fish initially but that settled down. Now, almost 3 years out things like rice, pasta and some breads sit like a ton of bricks and some veggies - simply don't seem to digest and sit heavy and uncomfortable in my tummy. However, things like oatmeal feel happy in my belly, go figure.

Too much fat - like a bunch of pistachios will make me feel ill - and sugar sometimes goes straight through me and can be ugly. All the more reason to eat well.

Chicken sausage doesn't work for me. It's like my body says NOPE and doesn't even let me swallow it. I also have trouble with some cold cuts. Those go down ok, but they sit funny and don't feel great. I have found brands that work. I have tried only cashews so far and those were fine. I have avoided most nuts since the protein value isn't that high for the calories you're taking in. I brought them for plane food on a trip though.

Ground meat doesn't hurt my sleeve but I find it disconcerting to chew and I don't like the texture much anymore. Therefore I haven't had any ground meat since puree phase except to try ground beef for the first time last week. Ground turkey and chicken just don't do it for me. Shredded of both is fine though.

Like Cathy, I also lost my taste for all the sugar free drink mixes, so I drink only plain water mostly. I'm lucky and drink carbonation without any ill effects, so I occasionally have a diet soda (which is not a trigger for me, or something I feel I need all the time). I used to love seltzer but since it's gross flattened and REALLY carbonated otherwise, I haven't tried that yet.

I've found my sleeve to be remarkably not temperamental. Pretty much everything now just feels normal. I sometimes forget (other than my measured portions) that I have a sleeve. Even the burping/gurgling has subsided (except when I lay down after drinking a protein shake!).

Edited to add: I haven't tried any starches or most veggies yet, so who knows on those!

Nothing really. There are foods that I don't like how they feel or sit in my sleeve but nothing is impossible.
