Please tell me I am normal. I am so crabby I don't even want to be around myself. My anxiety is about a 50 on 1 to 10 scale. My surgery is may 4th. This day 13 of liquid diet so nothing new there. Just a billion thoughts running through my head right now.

Totally normal. I warned the people in my life this would happen and worked hard to be self aware so that I could remove myself from the presence of people when I felt I was going to be a horrible person. Take deep breaths. Try something like coloring or journaling.

Sounds about right!

Maybe go for some walks and get some fresh air when you get real tense. It gets better, promise!

yep sounds perfectly normal! Two of the few people I told about my surgery were the two guys who sat next to me at work - mainly because I knew they would have to deal with my crabbiness and the three of us were pretty close anyway and I knew I could trust them. (Even though we don't work together anymore, they have remained great support for me).

As I got within days of surgery, the anxiety definitely went into overload - things were getting very real! Before that I was just focused on getting through each of the pre-op testings and mainly focused on trying to get insurance approval and then suddenly when I had a surgery date, it was like "whoah, this is really happening!" - major freak out.

The anxiety continued for about a week or two post op - also totally normal so don't panic.

Just keep reminding yourself why are you doing this and trust in the process.

Perfectly normal, sad to say. Just let everyone around you (at least those you care about lol) know what's going on. Hang in there!
