Morning! I took a Kettlebell class yesterday that I assumed would be easy and it was NOT. Ouch. My whole body is sore this morning. I'm supposed to be writing a paper today, but I'm not sure if I'll get to it or if I'll procrastinate and end up writing it tomorrow evening. I'm so not in the mindset that I should be for it and I still have a group project due on 12/15. She hasn't even assigned groups yet! But, once I'm done I probably won't be taking a class again until fall because of plastic surgery.

QOTD: Let's help each other out a little. What are your best generic stocking stuffer ideas? I need to fill a stocking for our family friend that lives with us. She's beyond thrilled that she gets a stocking, she's 68 and hasn't had one since she got married over 40 years ago. But, I'm at a little bit of loss as to what to put in it. She's had RNY so candy is a no go!

Happy Sunday! Went to dinner last night at Ruby Tuesday. They have a Chicken Bella that is to die for! Paired it with green beans and grilled zuchinni. Ate a third and took the rest home. Cals were 145, 5 carbs, 7 fat, 13 protein and 1 sugar. Prior to WLS surgery, we would only eat at buffets. Now, my rule is, we pick a new restaurant that we've not been to and no buffets. Prior to the surgery, I would NEVER have ordered chicken breast in a restaurant. The focus on quality rather than quantity is another surprisingly wonderful discovery. Fun, delicious and rewarding. (And cheap). Dinner used to be no less than $60 for the two of us (including drinks and libations). Last night, we left paying $25 even after a generous $5 tip. Who woulda' thunked it?

QOTD: I know stocking stuffers in some families are very food oriented, but in mine, we actually stopped that practice a long time ago. Now, it is DVD's, small inexpensive tech gadgets (think MP3 players and ear buds), thumb drives, small pretty pewter or crystal figurines, refrigerator magnets (my favorite), gift cards, key chains (another favorite of mine, especially if they are blingey or fluffy or sarcastic... such as one that I got a few years ago that said, "I try to be a nice person... but people are just so stupid!"). Another good one is something inspirational. A mug or something small that has a nice saying on it. (Dollar store, Ollies, or the Bargain Outlets always have inspirational and fun stuff).

M1: eggbeaters, FF turkey slices, 1 oz cheddar

M2: Smoked turkey

M3: Left over chicken bella and veggies

M4: Ham

M5: Shrimp and stir fry vegs (rice for the family)

S: Jerky or a protein snack... depends on what of the above gets eaten

E: none today

Water and vits on track

Yesterday (and the night before) were tough days as our goofy, loving 14 year old beagle Duchess had to be euthanized yesterday morning. DS had to do it alone and was a mess yesterday leading up to it and afterwards. She was a wonderful sweet dog, loved by all (even DH who wasn't very fond of dogs in the past). A memorial picture to her is below.

QOTD: I just put practical items in the stockings for the most part for my kids: Socks, gift cards (small amounts for coffee or gas). Sometimes I'll get a fun item like a hat or nutcracker (Bruins themed in our case). You could put in a protein drink?

1 year, 8 months post-op, maintenance:

B: eggbeaters, cottage cheese, and Canadian bacon

L: Turkey salad, tomato and cucumber

D: tuna salad, pickles and cottage cheese (having an evening beach picnic with friends)

S: yogurt

I'll be thinking of you today, Liz. Having to say goodbye to one of our furry family members is oh, so difficult.

My condolences on your loss. Losing a fur baby is losing a family member. I wish they could live as long as we do.

Peace and comfort to you and your DH. The loss of a furbaby is not easy. Saying goodbye (no matter how necessary) is not easy. My thoughts and heart go out to you.

I'm sorry about sweet Duchess, Liz. Dogs are such wonderful creatures who are just not here with us long enough.

Liz, my heart goes out to you and your family. I am so sorry. I have a feeling that Duchess had a wonderful home and family for 14 years, a dogs life is way too short. Your photo tribute is so lovely and she is beautiful!

Rest easy gorgeous girl. Thinking of you and your family Liz. Loosing a pet is so very hard as they are such a massive part of the family. I hope your other dog adjusts over time. May happy memories bring a smile and some comfort to you all over the coming weeks and months. Huge hug xxx
