How much did you lose in the first 2 weeks (14 days) after surgery?

Good morning everyone!

I am down 21 pounds from my pre-op appointment weigh in and I'm curious what you all lost 14 days out from your surgery?

You will find every number there is, if you look hard enough. My best advice is, don't look.

I gained about ten pounds in surgery. All fluid, of course. A week after surgery, I weighed the same as I did the morning of surgery.

Some lose 20 pounds or more in the first 2 weeks, and expect that to continue. They get distraught when the scale doesn't budge in the next three weeks.

Daily and even weekly fluctuations drive people insane. If you are one of those people, you might do well to avoid the scale. Monthly losses have a lot more significance than anything else.

You can see my monthly losses in my ticker. Keep in mind my height and weight. Many people put monthly losses in their signature area.

Take a look at Trendweight.com. It gives great graphs showing your overall weight loss trend, and can even give you a projected date when you might reach your goal -- provided you keep to a good plan, of course.

The best thing you can weigh, by far, is your food -- not yourself. Calories is the only thing you can control directly, not the scale you weigh yourself with.

I am with Grim on this one. I am 4 weeks post-op and I barely look at the scale. I am down 45 pounds already. I get on the scale maybe once a week. It looks like I'm losing 8 to 10 pounds a week.

Less than I hoped for, more than I could have ever done without surgery.

Don't worry about what others lose, it will drive you crazy. There is no standard weight loss post-surgery, or pre-surgery for that matter. Just follow your surgeon's plan, get in your fluids, and walk to help your recovery.

Is it possible to delete posts? I am not sure how to so I will just say, please disregard this post. I don't mean to be rude but everyone is disregarding my question and giving me unsolicited advice. Don't get me wrong, I know you all have great advice, however, if I was looking for advice I would have asked for it. What I have enjoyed most about this site is the willingness to share personal stories, triumphs, and struggles and that everyone freely shares their weight and pounds lost, either verbally or on tickers or what have you. That is something I have never been comfortable doing IRL and I feel safe sharing here because everyone shares in the struggle with me. So why when I ask for this information, is everyone suddenly not willing to tell LOL, I was just curious and now I am sorry I asked. Again, I don't mean to come off as rude and I apologize if anyone finds this message offensive, that is not my intention. Peace and love.

Out of curiosity, why did you ask?
