Cannot stop the dry heaves

Anyone else go through this after surgery? They kept me an extra day in the hospital and I still can't drink anything but a minute sip of water now and then. If anyone else experienced this, can you tell me how long this went on? Honestly wouldn't have gone through with this if I knew.

By day 4 I was feeling better but could only keep down G2, water and protein shake before that. Remember tiny sips. It will get better hang in there.

I had some the first night, but they gave me a lot of anti-nausea meds to combat it.

They're keeping me over again today. Seems like the port where they took the stomach from is infected. Lovely.

I am glad they are keeping you another night so they can address the dry heaves with anti nausea medication and treat the infection. It is better that you are there rather than dealing with this at home. I know it's hard and frustrating, hang in there Krob...it does get better.

Better safe than sorry! Sorry you're having a rough start. I hope things smooth out for you soon.

In the past I got severe dry heaves after every surgery. Until they found meds that worked for me.

Getting you hydrated should help. Hopefully they have you on good IV fluids. Post op - ice chips were easiest for me to get liquids. Sips of water may not do the trick.

I've been getting nonstop fluids, as well as antibiotics, pain meds and 2 different anti nausea meds. Day 3 in hospital. Hoping CT scan doesn't show any leakage.
